Hotel by the sea in Porto d'Ascoli in the heart of the Marche

GIOSTRA DELLA QUINTANA (ASCOLI PICENO)

One of the most evocative events in the Piceno area is the traditional re-enactment of the Quintana joust, a medieval tournament during which six knights competed to win the Palio. In Ascoli Piceno, horses and costumed figures will relive the ancient medieval game, with the departure of the procession in Piazza Ventidio Basso, which will then arrive in the Playground for the start of the joust.

The Quintana consists of hitting a target with a spear while galloping along a figure-eight course 720m long, bordered by hedges. The target is usually represented by a shield, divided into sections to be hit to obtain a score for each successful hit. Tournaments like this were the products of feudalism and chivalry and still have a particular fascination today.

SUMMER CARNIVAL (ALBA ADRIATICA)

The traditional event every year with the Summer Carnival returns. The seafront of Alba Adriatica will be invaded by allegorical floats and masks of all kinds, coming from the most important carnivals in Italy and from local groups who will participate in the "The Golden Mask" competition.

The Albamici association, organizer of the event, is creating the fifth collection of costumes, the theme of which will be revealed only a few days before. The event will immerse you once again in the colorful atmosphere of this holiday, brightening up your holidays with a fun and light-hearted evening.
